Notes: Bauhinia blakeana was first discovered in Hong Kong at the end of the 19th century and named after Sir Henry Blake, a former governor of Hong Kong. It was selected as the floral emblem of Hong Kong in 1965. Local researchers, based on molecular evidence, confirmed that this species was a bybrid between B. purpurea ????? and B. variegata ?????
