Locality: Sugar Mountain, North Carolina, United States (36.120491, -81.829197)

Notes: Images fromthe guided wildflower hike along the Profile Trail during the Grandfather Mountain Naturalist Weekend. The leaves of these plants have a characteristic "checkerboard" pattern of wrinkles on them. They seemed to be at the end of their flowering period as this plant was already releasing seeds.
