Perennial, 3-5 dm; basal lvs narrowly spatulate, 4-10 cm נ5-15 mm; cauline lvs 1-3 pairs, mostly smaller, petiolate or subsessile, oblong to lanceolate; infl open, compound; cal tubular-conic, 7-10 mm, glandular-puberulent; fls nodding, later erect; pet pink or white, the auricles inconspicuous, the appendages linear, 2 mm (rarely obsolete), the blade 5 mm, lobed half-length; styles 3; fr trilocular below, opening by 6 teeth; 2n=24. Native of Europe, occasionally escaped from cult. in the e. part of our range. June-Sept.
