Panicum amarum image

Much like no. 9 [Panicum amarulum Hitchc. & Chase], but with well developed creeping rhizomes and solitary or slightly clustered culms; panicles sparsely fld, the primary branches usually 1 or 2 per node, tertiary branches common; spikelets 4.7-7.7 mm; first glume prominently 7- or 9-veined; largely sterile, the caryopsis abortive; 2n=54. Coastal foredune system; Conn. to Tex. Morphologically intergradient with no. 9.
