Flowering May-Jul(-Sep). Serpentine slopes, rocky and gravelly ridges and slopes, pine-fir, chaparral; 600-2300 m; Calif., Oreg.
Intermediates between var. nudatus and var. bloomeri occur in Del Norte and Siskyou counties, California.
