Stems creeping, freely branched, glabrous, to 3 dm; lvs sessile, broadly elliptic to rotund, 4-10 mm, obscurely 3-5-nerved from the base; pedicels 1 mm or less; cal at anthesis 1.5-2 mm; cor shorter than the cal, its lower lobe 1 mm; fr 1 mm. Wet soil or shallow water on the coastal plain; tropical Amer., n. along the coast to se. Va. (Globifera u.)
