Shrubs , densely branched. Leaf blade usually deeply cupped, margins revolute; surfaces abaxially with hairs usually 1-2 mm, rays curly, adaxially grayish or yellowish, with persistent stellate pubescence.

Flowering spring. Serpentine soils; 150-1500 m; Calif.

Quercus durata var. durata is found from Santa Barbara County north to Shasta County.
