Plants 7-25 cm, glabrous or stipitate-glandular. Stems widely spread-ing to erect, branching proximally. Stipules 2-2.7 mm. Sepals 2.5-3.5 mm, to 4.3 mm in fruit, apex ± acute to narrowly obtuse. Capsules 3.5-5.3 mm, 1.2-1.3 as long as times sepals. Seeds 0.9-1.1 mm. 2n = 36.

Flowering summer. Disturbed marshy areas; 0-50 m; B.C.; Alaska, Calif., Oreg., Wash.
