Plants 1-3.5 dm. Stems erect to spreading, simple or branched from base. Leaf blades 0.6-1.8 cm, basal teeth or lobes rounded, apex obtuse. Inflorescences with glomerules usually well spaced. Seeds 1-1.2 mm diam.

Fruiting late spring-early fall. Sandy granitic alluvium, Joshua-tree woodlands, salt-desert shrubs and greasewood or creosote bush communities; 1400-2500 m; Ariz., Calif., Nev., Utah.
