Evolvulus sericeus var. sericeus is a spreading plant with narrowly lanceolate and foliage which is pubescent on the lower surface and usually glabrous above. The leaves are spreading. In the past, two varieties were recognized in our area: var. discolor with white flowers, and var. sericeus with purple flowers. The two varieties are now both recognized as Evolvulus sericeus var. sericeus. Evolvulus nuttallianus has lavender flowers and has leaves that are appressed or ascending and that are pubescent on both surfaces.
