Flowers 8-15 mm diam.; petals yellow tipped with red (copper). 2n = 54.

Flowering late spring-early fall. Granitic and sandstone outcrops, dry, sandy soil, cultivated fields; 0-200 m; Ariz., Ark., La., Miss., Mo., N.Mex., Okla., Tex.

FLOWERS: diameter 8-15 mm; petals bi-colored.

NOTES: See also parent taxon. Dry sandy or rockysoils, desert grasslands, oak woodlands, wash bottoms, disturbed sites: Cochise, Gila, Graham, Pima, Santa Cruz cos.; 900-1850 m (3000-6000 ft). Jun-Oct. NM e to AR, LA.
