Bractlets of the epicalyx 6-9, connate at base; stamen-column with anthers at the summit; carpels numerous, usually 15 or more, at maturity falling away from the central axis and indehiscent; style-branches as many as the carpels, slender and elongate, stigmatic along the inner side; pubescent perennial herbs with conspicuous fls in the upper axils. 12, temp.
