Leaves: 0.5-3 cm, simple, entire, linear to lanceolate; bristles ascending to ± appressed; cauline generally opposite below, alternate above

INFLORESCENCE: cymes, axillary and terminal, open in fruit; flowers ± appressed

Flowers: calyx asymmetrical, sepals free, ± 1 mm, 2-3 mm, folded, oblong in fruit, generally bristly, some bristles > sepal; corolla generally white, tube generally 1-13 mm, appendages 5, white to yellow; corolla limb 0.5-1 mm wide; anthers included; ovary generally 4-lobed

Fruit: Fruit: nutlets 4 (1 generally > other 3), 2-2.5 mm, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, back generally white-granular, groove on inside surface ± open throughout, not generally flared or forked at base
