Until 1905 our manuals did not properly distinguish our species of this genus. Previous to 1905 three species were reported from six counties in Indiana and no doubt all of these should be referred to this species. For a discussion of this subject see excluded species. All the specimens that I have seen were collected in dry, gravelly soil in open woods or along roadsides. Rare, and only a few specimens at a location.
