Leaves: generally compound, alternate, stipuled, 3.5-18 cmodd-1-pinnate; leaflets 7-25, ± well separated, 2-27 mm, linear to ± round, hairs 0 or only on margins, midribs

INFLORESCENCE: raceme, axillary, flowers 4-22, ascending

Flowers: bilateral; calyx 5-lobed; petals pink-purple or ± pale, banner outside wings in bud, 14-24 mm, recurved ± 40 degrees, keel 11-19 mm; 9 filaments fused, 1 free; ovary (and fruit) generally sessile, style slender, stigma minute

Fruit: legume, erect or ascending; body 12-40 mm, 7-13 mm wide, inflated, oblong-ellipsoid, ± round in X -section, stiffly papery, glabrous or minutely hairy; stalk-like base 0 or 2-7 mm; chamber 1; Seeds 2-many, smooth, compressed, ± notched at attachment scar
