From Flora of Indiana (1940) by Charles C. Deam

Infrequent to frequent in dry, sandy prairies and low, open, black oak woods throughout the northwestern part of the state, mostly as shown on the map. It was reported from Steuben County by Bradner. I have on several occasions found this species associated with Baptisia leucantha which flowers 1-3 weeks later.
