Inflorescence branches glabrous.

Flowering Jul-Oct. Sandy and gravelly flats and slopes, chaparral communities, oak and pine woodlands; 700-1600 m; Calif.; Mexico (Baja California).

Variety incultum is infrequently encountered in the foothills and mountains of southern California (Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties). Occasionally it is locally common. This variety is much more slender and graceful than Eriogonum davidsonii, with which it might be confused.
