Stem(s) 5-12 dm, ±erect, usually much-branched above, ±densely uncinate-puberulent, or (in the phase called D. dillenii Darl. or D. perplexum B. G. Schub.) provided with longer spreading hairs, or with both sorts of pubescence; stipules slender, 4-8 mm; petioles mostly 2-5 cm; lfls ±pubescent especially beneath, the terminal one commonly oblong-ovate, 4-9 cm, a third to two-thirds (avg half) as wide; fls 7-10 mm; cal 4 mm; stipe 3-5 mm; articles 2-4, 5-9 נ3.5-5 mm; 2n=22.
