Rhizomatous perennial 8-15 dm; lvs often broadly linear, 3-5 cm, to 3 mm wide, gradually tapering; pedicels at anthesis 5-20 mm, very erect; cal-tube 3.5-5 mm, the lobes broadly subulate, 0.3-0.8 mm; cor 3-4 cm, without yellow marks; pollen-sacs 4 mm; fr subglobose, 6-7 mm; seeds brown-reticulate; 2n=28. Wet sandy soil on the coastal plain; Del. to Fla. and La. (Gerardia l.)
