Plants 5-17(-22) cm. Leaves: basal spatulate, bases narrowly tapering to winged petioles, margins distinctly crenate distally; cauline 2-7, 10-25 × 1-4 mm. Heads in open wandlike arrays (to mid stem). Phyllaries: shortest 1.4-2 mm. Disc florets: corollas 3.9-4.2 mm. 2n = 18.
Flowering early Aug. Alpine serpentine barrens, crevices and ravines; of conservation concern; 700-1000 m; Que.
Variety chlorolepis is known only from Mt. Albert, Gaspé.
