Leaves: petioles 2-4 mm; blades lanceolate, mostly 12-40 × 3-10 mm, margins usually sinuate-dentate, rarely entire. Cypselae 1.2-1.6 mm, ciliate or not, tips of cilia recurved; pappi 0 or of 1-2 bristles. 2n = 26, 52.

Flowering May-Sep. Disturbed sites; introduced; 0-10 m; Fla., Ga., N.C., S.C.; South America.
