Tree to 15 m, or blooming as a shrub; lfls 5, narrowly obovate, usually pubescent beneath until anthesis; fls much as in no. 3 [Aesculus flava Aiton], the cal and pedicels finely pubescent, not glandular. S. Va. to Ga., e. Ala., and e. Tenn., especially on the piedmont. Apr. (A. neglecta) Hybridizes with nos. 3 [Aesculus flava Aiton] and 5 [Aesculus pavia L.].
