Seldom over 3.5 dm; lvs rather broadly linear, to 2 mm wide; racemes often short, with 2-5 pairs of fls; pedicels 2-10 mm; cal-tube 2-3 mm, the lobes semi-orbicular to oblong, 0.5-1 mm, broadly rounded or obtuse; cor 1.2-2 cm; pollen-sacs 1.3-1.8 mm; fr subglobose, 5-6 mm; seeds brown-reticulate; 2n=28. Salt marshes; N.S. and Me. to Fla., Mex., and W.I., more robust southward. (Gerardia m.)
