Rough-hairy annual, 1-6 dm; lvs linear to linear oblong or the upper more lanceolate, to 10 נ1.5 cm, often crowded at the base; sep 5, 6-10 mm at maturity; cor 7-9 mm, the tube somewhat exserted, the throat obstructed by the hairy fornices, the limb 3-6 mm wide; stamens inserted well down in the cor-tube, commonly below the middle; nutlets 2.5-3 mm; 2n=30. Native of w. U.S., occasionally adventive in our range. Apr.-June. (A. barbata)
