Perennial; lvs round-reniform, 1-2 cm wide, often retuse, commonly hairy, on petioles usually exceeding the blades and bractless pedicels; sep spatulate, strongly veined, at maturity 3 mm, equaling the hirsutulous frs, each carpel developing into an indehiscent, usually 1-seeded utricle; 2n=30. Moist low ground; se. Va. to Fla., Ark., and Tex.; Bermuda; Bahama Isl. (D. repens, misapplied)
