Annuals, 1-2.5 cm. Stems erect to spreading. Leaves: blades spatulate to cuneate, 3.5-10 mm, sometimes 1-3-lobed (each lobe terminating in short, sharp cusp), ultimate margins entire, weakly, if at all, revolute (apices acute), faces loosely woolly. Heads borne singly or in clusters. Peduncles ± 0.1 cm. Involucres cylindric to obconic, 1-2+ mm diam. Phyllaries 3-4, distinct. Ray florets 0. Disc florets ± 3; corollas ± 2 mm (tubes cylindric, throats broadly cylindric, abruptly dilated, lobes glandular; anther appendages deltate, tapering distally, not glandular). Cypselae 2-2.5 mm; pappi of 12-14 linear to spatulate scales ± 1.5 mm.

Flowering Apr-May. Sandy or gravelly areas, creosote-bush scrublands; of conservation concern; 500-800 m; Calif.
