Leaves: petiole short stipitate-glandular mixed with long stipitate-glandular; blade pen-tagonal or heptagonal, deeply lobed. Inflorescences long stipitate-glandular. Flowers: hypanthium broadly turbinate, 1.5-4.7 × 1.5-3.8 mm, long stipitate-glandular; sepals 0.5-1.3 mm, apex rounded to acute; petals 0.3-0.7 mm wide; styles 1.8-4.2 mm. 2n = 14, 28.

Flowering Apr-Jul. Redwood or pine forest over sandstone, granite, or serpentine soils; 0-1600 m; Calif., Oreg., Wash.

Variety hartwegii occurs in the Coast Ranges.
