Glabrous; stems weak, simple, 3-14 dm; lvs all cauline, decurrent, narrowly linear to broadly lanceolate, callous-denticulate to subentire, 3-15 cm נ2-14 mm; raceme open, secund, to 1.5 dm; pedicels stout, straight, erect, rough-hairy, bibracteolate at base, 5-13 mm in fr; sep 3-15 mm, strongly callous-dentate to less often entire; auricles small or none; fls 2-3.3 cm, blue with a white eye, fenestrate, the lower lip bearded at base within; 2n=28. Wet places, mainly on the coastal plain; se. Va. to Fla. July-Oct.
