I am not able to separate this variety from the [full] species [Physocarpus opulifolius] by any character other than the pubescence. The number of follicles of both species and variety of all except one of my specimens is 3. The pedicels, with one exception, are densely stellate-pubescent. The habitat is similar to that of the species.
