Characteristics: intermediate of parents. The plant is smaller than <i>Rosa foetida</i>, with shorter branches, bristly flower stalks, and nearly black fruit.

Similar species: Rosa x harisonii has nearly black fruit, making it easy to distinguish from other roses in the Chicago Region.
